In the words of Garth Brooks

Well it's bulls and blood

It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in his knuckles
The gold in the buckleHe'll win the next go 'roundIt's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo
It's the broncs and the blood
It's the steers and the mud
And they call the thing rodeo

Each year we take our dad, Lance toPleasant Grove Strawberry Days Rodeo

Our NEWEST Father's Day Tradition.

We dress up, go to dinner and then see

how many servings of strawberries and cream we can shove in our face

before the evening is over.

For those California folk who ain't never been to no rodeo, y'all are missin' out!

There's:

Mutton Bustin' = Strappin' young children to sheep to see who can hold on the longest. Most of the kiddos give up right away, fall in a face full of dirt, and end up crying.

Man in the Can = Rodeo clown hiding in a "bucket" to convince the bull to attack him aka stupid.

Cash cow= stick several dollar bills along the backs of two small calif's and let as many children as possible (usually 60) chase them until all bills are gone.

Wild cow milking = Five teams of three men chase wild cows around the arena. First team to catch the cow and get an inch of milk in a coke bottle wins. Very difficult and very funny.

Cow Hide racing = Attaching full cow hides to horses via ropes. Children sit on the hides and hold on for dear life. First one across the finish line wins.
Yup, we sure sound crazy. It is prob one of my favorite things about summer though.

The power of those animals, the stupidity of the people, what isn't there to love?!

This year they even ended the rodeo with fireworks! Perfect ending to a perfect day!
