5 things

GUEST POST:
So this 5 things about me post is flying around instagram and I thought I would join the band wagon.

1. I love bath time. There is nothing more fun then being naked.
2. I still live with my parents, lame I know.
3. I recently found these things attached to me, I think my Mom calls them "toes". They. Are. Awesome.
4. I hate taking naps and refuse to sleep through the night not because I don't want to,
but mostly just to keep my parents on their toes.
5. And back in September for just about 2 seconds I was the YOUNGEST PERSON IN THE WORLD

There you have it. Only 4 months old and I'm already this awesome.

Looking forward...

As the new year begins let us reflect on the best things of the previous year and the things we will look forward to in 2013, instead of  making resolutions we never keep.....

2012 was an amazing year for the Lyman family. It started fantastic & ended just the same!

We found out we were expecting a baby on January 21st 2012!
From there it only got better...
we found out that baby was a girl!!
We got insurance through Zachs work.
we moved twice in 6 months.
We spent lots of time at the pool.
Zach got several awards at school
Sara visited California, often.
We became parents to a little girl named Madison.
{she was the bestest part}

In 2013 we are looking forward to:
Zach graduating from college.
Finding out where we are going for medical school.
Moving for school and having a place of our own.
Spending time with our awesome friends and family.
Making new friends.
A fun trip to California for spring break.
Madison turns 1!

and I'm sure so much more!

First Outing of the New Year

Our first outing as a family was to the Living Planet Aquarium. With Zach's winter break coming to an end we decided to take advantage of every last minute.

Not to mention a chance to play with my new camera.

The otters were adorable and Madison and I got up close and personal.

She loved all the exhibits and was in a trance for most of the trip.

I met a very friendly penguin.
They are kind of a favorite in our family.
And Madison made a new friend too.
All in all it was a very fun little adventure.

Happy 2013! Let's make this the best year yet!

Christmas

Here is a copy of our 2012 Christmas Cards. If you didn't get one this year and want to be on the list for next year, email me your address.

Our day started very early, as most days with a newborn do. Zach had worked till 5:30 that morning so we decided to let him sleep in before all the fun began. So Madi and I hung out downstairs and played around all morning until it was time for her morning nap. I think this is probably the last Christmas morning we will be able to sleep in ... ever.
Around noon everyone came over and we opened presents and had a ton of fun playing together. Its so fun to have family close to us that we get to see often. My nieces were very "helpful" with opening Madison's presents for her.
Zach surprised me with a rocking chair as my Christmas present. I was spoiled. I can't tell you how much this baby has already been used. It is a wonderful addition to our home and I love it. I can't wait for it to one day go in the nursery.
Jono Cough, I mean Santa gifted the family with an Xbox Kinect. Apparently we have been very good this year. We spent a good portion of the day taking turns playing the dance party game. Its a family favorite of ours. Sadly, the Xbox was broken so we only got to play with it for a day before we had to return it to get another one, its still on back order.

All of Madison's presents. We went a little easy this year and just got her a few books and things. Babies already need so much their first year of life and there really isnt many toys that a 3 month old needs/wants. She loves reading books and so we now sit in her rocker every day and read them. I'm sure next year Santa will bring her lots of toys.
Then after lunch I went outside and played in the snow with Finleigh and Maizy. We had planned on making a snowman but the snow wasn't good enough to pack so we ended up just running around throwing snow at each other and making snow angels. Then the girls helped Grandpa get the eggs from the chicken coop, they were completely frozen. Did I mention its freaking cold here? Who's idea was it to live here?!

After that the entire family bundled up and went sledding, Zach went back to work and I stayed home with the baby and sicky Aunt Lindsay.

 I love these notsolittleanymore  girls.
I hope your Christmas was as wonderful as ours and you were surrounded by all those that you love!
Merry Christmas from our growing family to yours!

Lyman Family Fiesta

One of my favorite family traditions by far. The Sunday before Christmas (in this case 2 Sundays before because next week is too close to Christmas) we all get together and have the Lyman family fiesta. We dress up,  listen to mexican music and eat lots of mexican food. It is a blast! There is no real reason for the mexican theme other then the Lymans love mexican food and love to party. This event has started to snowball over the years and it seems to just be getting better as time goes on. Every year we add a little something to the party to make it special, but I'm not sure what we can do to top this one, unless next year we have the party in Cancun.

 We had a penguin pinata.
 We dressed up.
 We had a photobooth
Jono made us pina coladas IN actual pineapples. So yummy!
We all wore mustaches. Silly tradition I know, but its soo funny.

Don't worry, we incorporate Christmas in here somewhere.
We all dress up and read the story of Christ birth in the scriptures.
These were the Shepherds.
 The Wise "wo"men
 Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus

And then we finished off the night with the pinata and dancing!

Feliz Navidad!
Love,
The Lyman Familiy.
