Spa Day

Today I was spoiled.

My wonderful 3 year old cousin came over to play.

She decided to paint my toes.

10 different toes.
6 different colors.
1 big mess.

But ya know.. for her first time I think she did great!

Just a Valentine for YOU

I know what you are thinking. Is this really a Valentine for me? Yes, yes indeed, you are loved so much and we want to show you that. Everyone sends Christmas cards but we wanted to spice things up and send Valentines instead! We wanted to send everyone our love and wish that we could see your smiling faces every day. But because we cant, we wanted to update you on everything going on in our lives. This past year has been a whirlwind of fun. Sara barely survived her first winter. Though she is not a fan of the snow she is making the best of it and sometimes can even be caught with a smile on her face watching the snow fall. She currently works for a loan company in Springville, Utah. Dealing with mostly with garnishments and human resource issues. Nothing too exciting to report there, but she enjoys what she does and the people she works with so that’s all that matters. She is adjusting to the life as a homemaker and is always attempting a new craft or recipie. Zach is always a good sport when something is “just a little burnt” and will eat it with a smile. He’s learned to be a good husband. Zach graduated from the paramedic program at Utah Valley University. He has managed to be a full time student who works two jobs, and is a husband in there somewhere. He continued to maintain his scholarship and has done well in every class. I am so impressed with him and all of his wonderful accomplishments. He currently is an adjunct professor for the University. He loves teaching and its just another thing that he excels at. This year Zach started two clubs on campus. One being Emergency Services Club and the other being campus first responders. For those who do not know what that is. It is for certified EMTs and paramedics who are the literal “first response” to any accident on campus, to be able to provide medical care as quickly as possible. When emergencies happen, every moment counts and this will really help the students. His idea took off and has had the snowball effect since. He has about one year left on his BA and then its off to medical school.Believe it or not another year flew by and we celebrated our one year anniversary. Oh, how time flies when you’re in love. We have had so many wonderful experiences this year. Recently we were able to check an item off our bucket list. We touched a penguin! I know this sounds a little crazy but it was amazing. We were able to hang out with the penguins one on one and actually learned a lot about them. I recommend that everyone make a goal this year to check off at least five things on your bucket list. We would also like to announce the arrival of our new addition to the Lyman family. No, it is not a child. We are still a few years away from that. She is a rescue Maltese dog. Her name is Cozy or Sophie, depending on the day. We already love her and she is a great addition to the family.

Maizy Jane and Valentines Celebration

We were happy to share our Valentines celebration this year with our cute little niece Maizy.

HAPPY 1 st BIRTHDAY POOPER!
(I'm not mean, her mom calls her that too!)

Wonder what Maizy is up to theses days? Well, she crawls, drools, giggles, climbs on things, and learned this cute trick....
(watch the video)

Can you believe that my sweet little Valentines day Niece turns ONE this year? I cant believe it, we love her so much! She really brightens our day. She is the most easy going baby you will ever meet. I love her smile and when she giggles with her big belly laugh, you can't help but laugh right along! And those cheeks!!! I can never get enough of them. We love you Maizy girl thanks for being a blessing in our lives, you will forever be our favorite Valentine.

After Maizy's party we headed off to an early Valentine celebration. Started off with a couples massage and then came home to get ready for dinner at melting pot with our awesome friends the Eckles. We love them. We laughed so hard and had an awesome time! Zach even surprised me with flowers at work today, via Lindsay playing cupid. Thanks Linds. They were beautiful!

Sophie- Month One

This is the one month check up on our little Maltese. She adjusted to the spoiled life really well. In fact, she demands it. She enjoys cuddling in bed with Zach in the mornings after I leave for work and her weekly bubble baths. She loves to run around the apartment and chase me around. She can typically be found on the back of the couch, Zach's pillow, her dog house, or right under your feet when you are trying to walk.

Tricks: Well, the saying goes "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". That's pretty much true, the only thing we have been able to teach her is to high-five. Its still pretty cute.

New habit that drives us crazy: Every night once the TV is off and we are tucked in our beds attempting to fall asleep you hear... a lip smacking.. tongue flapping.. spit splashing noise that makes you want to rip your hair out! I don't know why she does it but she will just sit and lick the air for about 10 minutes before bed.

Future plans: Sophie plans to take a quick trip to California later this month with me and my best friend. She will get to meet her "half brothers and sisters" and hopefully wont be mean to them.

Why we like having a dog: She is so fun. I have dyed her tail hot pink for the month of January, and to celebrate Valentines day this month... she's sporting a big pink heart on her side. Many consider this cruel and unusual, but she loves the attention so I don't feel bad about it.

And yes, for those of you that were really paying attention to this blog. You win a prize! We did change her name from Cozy to Sophie, seemed more fitting but mostly we just didn't really like the name Cozy.

I "lub dub" you.

Tonight Zach was asked to teach CPR for the relief society enrichment thing. He was floored at the lengths women go to for these things. We had a chocolate fountain with tons of goodies and we were learning all about heart health. Can I just tell you that my ward ADORES Zach? They really do! They want to pinch his cheeks (both sets) and attempt to steal him away from me and take them home for their daughters. Let me tell you right now, BACK OFF LADIES, HE'S MINE!

Zach did an amazing job teaching. He's just a natural born teacher and so great at it. Everyone learned so much and really enjoyed having him there.

I should explain the title a bit. A lot of times when Zach is talking about medical stuff, he sometimes uses medical terminology and forgets that not everyone knows what he is talking about. Being his wife, I'm used to it and usually know what he is talking about. Now what he doesn't know is that I secretly read medical journals and studies while he is away so I can keep up with his medical mumbo jumbo and actually learn a thing or two, so he won't think I'm a total ditz. Anyways, when referring to the heart he says the "lub dub" movement. Meaning the almost literal sound the heart makes while its beating. No one in class new that, except me. So I giggled silently to myself in the back row and smiled at my amazing man.

What I'm trying to say is that... I lub dub you Zachary!

Oh DEER!

It finally happened!!! I caught deer on camera! Since I now live in Utah my eyes have been opened to all sorts of wild life. I actually look forward to the cold because the animals come out of the mountains and hang out in my front yard. On the way home with my friend my headlights caught this little guy. I pulled over to take a better look, and after freezing my butt off for a few minutes and attempting to chase the deer with flash lights, I gave up. So though this picture may not seem like anything to you.. its proof that they are real, and hang out at my house.
(And yes, Zach will make fun of me when he reads this post)
Can you see them? Their eyes glow when I hit them with the flashlight, awesome!
